STATUS

Proposal

Porto di Mare is a project rooted in the reactivation of the Porto di Mare area in the south of Milan, reimagined as a vibrant, community-oriented district. Guided by the Sustainable Development Goals, the proposal introduces student housing and shared facilities that promote social interaction, environmental responsibility, and a strong sense of belonging.

The project is conceived as a sequence of experiences unfolding across different levels, challenging the idea of a flat, monotonous urban space and instead offering varied sensations, views, and rhythms of movement. Acting as a dynamic threshold between the surrounding green forest and the entrance to the city, it becomes both a place of passage and a place to stay. A warm and cozy atmosphere is achieved through the dominant use of wood, while a neighborhood market encourages daily engagement and local activity. At the heart of the project, a stepped green courtyard creates a shared landscape that fosters community life, relaxation, and connection to nature.
